An important element to ensuring the effectiveness of health care is the active involvement of communities and their participation in prioritizing health care, defining essential services and influencing the service delivery settings that respond effectively to their health needs.
To achieve this result, HSS II’s approach focuses on two strategies:
- Strengthening the Ministry of Health’s capacity to institutionalize a health promotion program
- Empowering communities to address their determinants of health through community mobilization and networking
